I have been interested in plants as far back as I can remember. When I was younger I would always plant the seeds from watermelon, and one time I even planted some potato eyes. I never really got any good sized melons or potatoes just some small ones, but that was enough encouragement for me at the time.

It wasn't until recently (within the last 5 years) that I got serious about turning "Tha Yard" into a "Our Garden". To make that garden something to have satisfaction from working in and a joy to relax in. Instead of having something that is a hassle to keep weed free (or even relatively free). Plus I can think of at least a 100 better things to do on a day when the temperature an humidity are in the high 90s than to spend an hour cutting the grass. Not to say that grass doesn't have a place in gardens. Only that for me that place is limited.

I have very eclectic tastes as far as plants and layout. Even though I find myself leaning towards the tropical look I like natives just as much. I like flowering and foliage climbers, bushes, and trees. I am also very interested in having many edible plants in my landscape. I am still learning, so I have tried to leave plenty of room for improvement in my plan.

If I think of other stuff I'll add it. I'm kind of random like that =)
