My Animals

We have quite a few animals.

My Dog Jack a miniature schnauserMy mother has two dogs. One maltese whos name is Leo, we usually just call him Little White Dog (LWD) though, and one miniature schnauzer his name is Jack. Jack is a funny little dog that likes to play with anyone who will give him the time. He's a real rough an tumble type. Not a picture of Leo, but close.Since Jacks the oldest of our dogs he thinks of himself as Alpha, even though the other two think the same, and he's not afraid to protect this "position". Luckily they don't bump heads often, but one day LWD got his claws stuck in his hair an made a litlle wimpering noise. Jack, upon seeing this assumed weakness, wasted no time going in for the kill. I saw him an stopped him before he got to LWD. Leo couldn't care less about anyone but my mother. While she's at work, or just gone, he'll find a good spot in the yard an wait for her return. Once mom gets home he thinks he has turned into a mastif. Then if you mess with him he gets agressive an barks, growls, and bites at you. Which is very humorous because he's so small. Though I'm sure it wouldn't be if his teeth were sharper, and if he was a lot faster.

My brothers mixed breed dog Thai.My brother has one mixed breed dog whos name is Thai. I would call him a medium sized dog. He's brindle, about 60lbs, and loves to go for walks. My brothers mixed breed dog Thai. He likes to play just as much as Jack, but gets a lot more rough so if you are not careful he can scratch you up pretty good. If anyone is outside playing with Thai while Jack is outside Jack tries to run interferance by nipping at Thai and barking. Thais favorite thing most of all, I think, is barking at everything from squirrels too other dogs walking down the street.

out cat KatThen we have our cat. She is about 12 years old, and has been with us for the longest out of all the animals we have now. She's a good cat, a killer to the core, but a real suck up to the neighbors. They all feed her an give her lil treats, and in return she keeps all the other cats off our side of the street. I think she would do that anyway though. Kat likes being petted as long as you don't touch the white, or try to pick her up. She's also very car shy, so she doesn't like to ride in them or be by one that's on.

Now to the fowl. Last year a friend of ours bought three chicks to feed to his pet, but the animal didn't want to eat them an we ended up keeping them. Now we have eight chickens (seven hens an one rooster), one guinea fowl, and one turkey.

We had five more chickens, one more guinea fowl, and two other turkeys, but we've lost six chickens an a guinea fowl to raccoons. The other two turkeys my brother, with help from a friends girlfriend, slaughtered for Thanksgiving.

That was the first time we had ever raised our own meat, and let me tell you that it definatly helps to have some experience with that kind of thing first. Though it is possible to do it with just the knowledge gleaned from a friends grandmother in another state and, also the internet. Next time it should be a lot easier now that we've done it.
